A Hero for the American Red Cross is any corporation or organization that supports the many community services our local chapter provides to residents living and working in Manatee and Hardee counties. American Red Cross (ARC) depends upon the generosity of individuals, foundations, businesses, civic groups, and other organizations to fund the costs associated with providing disaster relief, disaster preparedness education, emergency communications to military families, youth service opportunities, and Health & Safety training to your community. The Heroes Campaign specifically recognizes the efforts of corporations and organizations.
Any corporation or organization can be a "Hero for the American Red Cross" by donating $1,000 in financial support for the community services of the ARC. The money can be contributed by the employer or raised by the employees.
Here are some ideas on how your company or organization can become a Red Cross Hero!
- The company makes a $1,000 gift from its marketing or philanthropy budget.
- The employees raise the money and the company matches what they raised.
- The company hosts a "Heroes for the Red Cross" party and offers raffle prizes and auction items.
- The company offers "dress down days" for a fee to employees and the fees are donated to the Red Cross after $1,000 are raised.
- If you are an educator, ask the students and faculty of your school to raise the money through a coin drive or selling "Red Cross Hero Squares" to display in the school.
- High school clubs and organizations can do a number of things to raise $1,000, such as candy bar drives, wrapping paper fundraisers, and more!
- If you are in retail, banking, or the restaurant business, ask customers to buy a "Red Cross Hero Square" which would be displayed in your place of business.
- If you are a member of a civic club such as Rotary, Kiwanis, Sertoma,. or others - ask your members to help your clubs become a "Red Cross Hero"! Consider holding a 50/50 raffle at your next meeting, or selling tickets for a door prize!
- If you live in a community or have a neighborhood association, ask your neighbors or friends to support your efforts through the association.
*Red Cross Heroes will be recognized annually in a Thank You Ad in the Bradenton Herald.
