Act SMART Camp I Sarasota

Act SMART Camp is an excellent opportunity for youth to learn leadership skills, peer counseling skills, tools and resources to combat peer pressure and make good decisions, and then uncover and develop their own leadership style. Topics will include tough issues like HIV/AISD, disease transmission, alcohol and drug use, sexual activity, self respect, and other current events that youth must often confront.

Babysitter's Boot Camp I Sarasota
Cost: $200 (includes Babysitting materials and certificate, First Aid and CPR materials and certificates, Babysitter's T-Shirt)
Babysitter's Boot Camp: fun and fast-paced with hands-on activities, exciting videos, role-plays and lively discussions. Your student will learn to be the best babysitter on the block. Plus, they will gain the confidence to make smart decisions and stay safe in any babysitting situation.
Students will learn to:

Perform basic child-care skills such as diapering and feeding

Choose safe, age-appropriate games and toys

Handle bedtime and discipline issues

This summer, we are going to train you to be prominent leaders in our community. From Monday, June 14th, through Thursday June 17th, 9am-6pm, you will become an Instructor in First Aid, Water Safety & Disaster Preparedness. You will receive Public Affairs training & will learn to make presentations with the media. You will receive disaster education classes & learn how to respond in the event of a major disaster this summer. You will also have an opportunity to get creative & design, film, & edit your own instructional videos for the health & safety classes you will be teaching throughout the summer.
On Friday June 18th, 9am-6pm, we are offering an extra class: a certification in CPR, AED, & First Aid. This class is optional and requires a separate ticket. If you wish to be certified at a 65% discount ($25), this will be your single opportunity to do so this summer.
For the rest of the summer, you will be required to sign up to teach at elementary schools throughout your county. Classes will be available to teach in Clearwater, St. Pete, & Tampa. A group of experienced volunteers will aid in your presentations.
The cost of the camp is $25, which includes lunch and snacks, and pays for the lessons and the tutoring for the rest of the summer.

The Wilderness and Disaster Response Boot Camp is for community-minded youth between the ages of 12-16 who have an interest in disaster preparedness and lifesaving skills in a remote environment the Wilderness and Disaster Response Boot Camp is for community-minded youth between the ages of 12-16 who have an interest in disaster preparedness and lifesaving skills in a remote environment.
This camp includes preparedness lessons, drills, a field trip and the following topics, leadership skills, introduction to disaster services, mass care and feed a large number of people, manage a Red Cross shelter, new Wilderness and Remote First Aid program, CPR/AED training, field trip to the Emergency Operations 9-1-1 Center for Sarasota County.
