The Tampa Bay Chapter of the American Red Cross will hold a shelter drill to exercise shelter managers and workers on how to care for people who must evacuate during a disaster.
WHEN: Saturday June 26, 2010, 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.
WHERE: Pizzo Elementary (11701 USF Bull Run Drive, Tampa, FL 33617 opposite MOSI off Fowler)
WHY: This exercise will demonstrate the realities and challenges that both shelter workers and evacuees face during a disaster. Red Cross volunteers and staff will experience each stage of mass care, shelter registration, feeding and will be challenged by various scenarios designed to demonstrate actual situations that may develop in real disasters.
